A plot style table in AutoCAD is a collection of plot styles assigned to a layout or to the Model tab. There are two types of AutoCAD plot style tables: color-dependent plot style tables and named plot style tables. The type of plot style used in a drawing is assigned when the drawing is created. One common problem that appears in AutoCAD 2000 drawings is that Named Plot Style tables (STB files) are inadvertently assigned to a drawing, and the user wants to assign Color-Dependent Plot Style tables (CTB files) instead.

Issue:

How to install plot style files (CTB and STB) into AutoCAD.

Solution:

To open the folder where AutoCAD looks for plot style files, on the command line in the program, type STYLESMANAGER. All CTB and STB files can be copied here. Keep in mind also that AutoCAD is able to access a plot style file if it is in the same folder as the drawing which uses it.
The default folder locations for plot style files are as follows:
Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista:
C:Users<user>AppDataRoamingAutodeskAutoCAD 20xxRxx.xenuPlottersPlot Styles
Windows XP:
C:Documents and Settings<user>Application DataAutodeskAutoCAD 20xxRxx.xenuPlottersPlot Styles
Mac OS:
/Users/<user>/Library/Application Support/Autodesk/AutoCAD version Standalone/Rxx.x/roaming/@enu@/Plotters/Plot Styles
These paths can be found within the Options or Preferences of AutoCAD, Windows and Mac OS respectively.
